FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!! Whoo-hoo!!
Zoey has been saying for a week how she couldn’t wait for school to start because “I’m so boooored.” Not surprising from the kid who once begged her kindergarten teacher to give her homework. Zoey is in 2nd grade this year, and it will be her first time in a “normal” classroom. Her preschool days were spent in special ed, her kindergarten was a combined four classes for a total of over ninety kids in one room, and last year she was in a split class of first and second graders. However, she will be leaving her regular class every Friday to attend the Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) class, which she is very excited about.
For her part, Eleanor is thrilled to be a “big kid” starting first grade. Her best friend is in the same class and they claimed seats right next to each other at the Meet & Greet last week. She picked out a full-size backpack this year to replace the Frozen one from last year that was falling apart (PSA: never buy Disney backpacks! She literally carried a folder in it one day a week and it was coming apart at the seams. Zoey’s Disney kindergarten backpack did the same thing. Total junk!)
The girls were all smiles at the bus stop this morning, and still smiling when they got home this afternoon. I think it’s going to be a good year.
