The Plague Strikes Back

That about sums up the past two weeks.

I caught a horrendous cold that just. wouldn’t. die. Ever. I missed work for over a week and still wake up every morning sounding like a fifty year pack-a-day smoker. The worst part is the energy sap though. I have been just completely drained and yesterday was the first time in over a week that I’ve made it through the day without a nap.

Now the girls have caught this mutant plague virus and it’s just pitiful. I think Zoey has already missed at least four days of school from it. And poor Eleanor. Too young to know how to blow her nose so she’s up all night coughing as she desperately tries not to drown in snot. (A lovely image, I know). I finished off Mother’s Day by going to bed at midnight only to get up at 2am to hold an exhausted toddler in a steamy bathroom long enough to help clear her airways so she could get to sleep. Then I got up at 6:30 am to shovel honey down Zoey’s throat in a desperate attempt to try to curb the cough that makes her sound like the world’s littlest tuberculosis patient coughing up her last functioning lung lobe.

It’s awesome you guys.

BUT! The forecast calls for sun, sun and more sun with 80 degree temps all week. I’m taking these kids out into the yard and I’m gonna bake the snot out of them. Literally. What could possibly go wrong with this plan?
