Doppleganger

Do you have a doppleganger? Someone who looks just like you? Maybe you’ve been told you resemble someone once or twice?

I have been told more times than I can count that I resemble a certain actress. One time, I was actually stopped on the street and asked if I was this celebrity. No lie. While wearing scrubs and waiting for the bus to work. Seriously, some people.

So who is it?

That’s right. Ellen Page. Specifically, Ellen Page as Juno, the pregnant teenager.

What do you think?

This was my 2008 Halloween costume. That’s a pillow, not a baby. Ignore the wrist brace for tendinitis. I may or may not have played eight straight hours of Wii that week…

When the movie Juno came out, I heard constantly how much I had in common with the title character. Not just looks, but apparently also personality. My coworkers called me Juno. Random people in crowds, cashiers at stores…everywhere I went I heard how much I looked like Juno. It has slowed down quite a bit now that the movie is a few years old, but I still get comments now and then. When I was pregnant with Eleanor, one of the receptionists at our doctor’s office started referring to me as Juno and squealing with delight every time I came in. She continues to call Eleanor “Juno Baby.” I may have inadvertently fed this when I mentioned that Juno was actually a potential name we were considering for a baby girl. I mean, use it if you’ve got it, right?

  1. That’s one of my favorite actresses and movies. Way to capitalize on it…in a week I’ll be heading to her hometown for vaca…Lunenburg, Nova Scotia! If I see her, I’ll send her to your blog!
